Discussing The Need For Plumbing Services

Hey everyone, my name is Joanna. Welcome. I am here to share my knowledge about plumbers with you all. Plumbing professionals ensure the pipes and fixtures in residential and commercial buildings function correctly at all times. When something goes wrong, it is wise to immediately call a plumber to the scene. Otherwise, the leaking fresh or waste water could damage the surrounding building materials, necessitating total replacement of those items. I will use this site to talk about all of the different plumbing services required for each potential problem. I will talk about parts and service techniques in great detail.

Septic Repairs Completed When Your Drainage Field Floods With Water

Septic tanks sometimes need repairs and there are some obvious signs that a repair service is required. This is true if you notice that your drainage field is filled with water, or even worse, contaminated with sewage. In this case, there are a few different repairs that a professional may need to complete. Keep reading to learn what they are.

Baffle Replacement

Your septic tank has a variety of different parts and pieces that prevent sewage from entering into the drainage field. One of these parts is called the baffle or the outlet tee. This baffle is a pipe that allows water to flow to the drainage field while keeping all solids within the tank. The t-shape of the pipe helps with this, but sometimes the long portion of the t can break off. This allows solid matter to flow directly into the drainage field.

The baffle can be replaced to stop this from happening. To best access the outlet opening, the septic tank must be partially or fully emptied first. Once the opening is accessible, the old and broken baffle is removed and a new PVC baffle is inserted in its place.

At this time, water may be added to the septic tank to raise the scum layer a bit so it sits closer to the top of the tank.

When the baffle fails, solid waste material can clog a portion of the drainage field, so your septic professional may need to flush the system after the repair is made.

Drainage Field Repair

Your drainage field relies on a series of pipes that allow water to trickle out of the septic system. And, if one or several of the pipes break, then water may flow out much more rapidly. This can cause a flooding issue where water cannot drain into the earth.

To fix the issue, the broken pipe must be located, so your drainage field is dug up. This is a careful process that keeps the majority of your drainage field in good shape. However, if the broken pipe cannot be found, then an entire section of the field may be excavated and replaced.

In some cases, an entirely new drainage field may be constructed or an add-on system might be installed. Add-on systems help to channel the water over a larger area to minimize flooding problems.
